An authentic expedition ship, purpose-engineered for blue water and polar exploration
The National Geographic Explorer is an authentic expedition ship, originally built for Norway’s Hurtigruten Coastal Express and later rebuilt drawing on 50 years of Lindblad Expeditions’ expertise. This redesign transformed her into a fully stabilized, ice-class vessel, ideal for polar exploration, offering elegance and a deep connection to the environment. Interiors and Amenities: The suites were recently updated with a sleek, Scandinavian design, a hallmark of the polar fleet. Public spaces include three dining areas (the main dining room, Bistro bar, and Observation lounge), a global gallery, a library, a lounge with a bar and state-of-the-art presentation facilities, and an observation deck with compelling 24/7 views. Expedition Experience: The ship is fully devoted to exploration, featuring open access to the Bridge to interact with the Captain and officers, and a mudroom with lockers for expedition gear. Meals are served at a single seating with unassigned tables, promoting an informal and social atmosphere. Menus feature sustainable and locally sourced options where possible.
