As steel wheels roll along nearly 500 miles of track, the railroad offers reliable, regularly scheduled service connecting Alaska cities, towns and protected lands – from the larger hubs of Anchorage and Fairbanks, to the charming villages of Talkeetna and Seward, to the treasured wildlands of the Chugach National Forest and Denali National Park.
The Alaska Railroad travels along approximately 500 miles of track with three daily summer trains: the Coastal Classic to Seward, the
Denali Star to Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks, and the Glacier Discovery to Whittier, Portage, Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop and Grandview. The Hurricane Turn Flagstop Train runs Thursday through Monday out of Talkeetna during the summer, serving remote homes only accessible by rail.

Myrdal station is a mountain railway station and junction, located about 13 km from the village Flåm. Here you will board the famous Flåmsbana one of the steepest trainlines in the world. The train journey runs through fantastic nature, past the Rallar road, steep mountains, breath-taking waterfalls, through 20 tunnels and offers so many viewpoints that many feel like travelling multiple times between the mountain and the fjord. Nærøyfjord Winter Cruise
Breakfast in the hotel. Today you will experience the Nærøyfjord in its FULL winter glory. The narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord surrounded by steep mountains with snow covered tops that stretch up to 1800 meters above sea level. Water falls cascade down the mountains and picturesque villages dot the landscape. This is an area that is featured on the UNESCO world heritage list and is considered one of the world's most beautiful fjord landscapes. You start the Fjord Cruise trip from Flåm. The roundtrip is a combination of cruise and a shuttle bus that takes you back to where you started. (You can upgrade your Fjord cruise to a RIB boat excursion for extra cost .) Dinner at your hotel.
