Spring in Svalbard offers a unique atmosphere for photography: pastel light, snow-covered mountains, and fjords littered with crystalline sea ice. This is the Arctic at its most magical, when landscapes and wildlife come alive after the long polar night.

Guided by Dean Tatooles, an expert in polar photography, you’ll receive hands-on, in-field tuition to refine your technique. From walruses and reindeer to polar bears and whales, every encounter is an opportunity to capture stunning shots. With studio-like soft lighting during sunrises and sunsets, this voyage combines professional guidance, Arctic exploration, and authentic expedition spirit.

Day 01:
Departure from Longyearbyen
Board in Longyearbyen at 4 pm. Sail past Fuglefjella (Bird Mountain), with its striking plateau landscapes, as the ship leaves Isfjorden.

Day 02:
Poolepynten
Explore Prins Karls Forland, home to a walrus colony and historical burial sites.

Days 03–07:
Ice Edge, Fjords & Cultural Sites
Search the dynamic ice edge for polar bears, seals, and seabirds. Zodiac cruise in Fuglefjorden near Svitjodbreen to observe calving glaciers. Land at Copper Camp in St. Johnsfjord to visit cultural remains. Continue to Van Mijenfjord and land at Vårsolbukta, where Camp Bell, a prospector’s hut, still stands—and reindeer are often spotted.

Days 08–09:
Hornsund & Isfjorden
Sail into Hornsund and land at Gnålodden, a site with a scenic bird cliff of black-legged kittiwakes and a trapper’s hut. Return north toward Isfjorden, preparing for disembarkation.

Day 10:
Return to Longyearbyen
Disembark in Longyearbyen at 9 am.
