This 14-day odyssey is a unique opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse over the Arctic, from a prime location in the waters of Greenland. The journey begins in Svalbard, a High Arctic wilderness with immense glaciers and wildlife. From there, you'll cross the Greenland Sea, remaining vigilant for sightings of marine mammals. This is expedition cruising at its most authentic, with an experienced captain and expedition leader continually adjusting the itinerary to take advantage of every opportunity to experience excellent wildlife viewing and incredible scenery.

East Greenland offers some of the Arctic’s most impressive scenery, with deep fjords and narrow channels flanked by ice-clad peaks. On shore, fields of multicolored tundra are home to musk oxen and Arctic hare, and ancient Thule archaeological sites can be found. The voyage is further enriched by astrophysicist Paul Sutter, who will enhance your eclipse experience with expert insights. After this amazing time in East Greenland, you will cross the Denmark Strait toward Iceland, crossing the Arctic Circle, before disembarking in the charming capital of Reykjavík.

Day 1: Arrival in Longyearbyen, Svalbard
The capital of Svalbard
Arrive in Longyearbyen and be transferred to your hotel. You are free to explore the town center and enjoy an excellent dinner. You will experience 24-hour daylight for the entire trip.

Day 2: Welcome Aboard!
Embarkation and sailing
Enjoy a free morning to explore Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the pier to embark aboard the M/V Sea Spirit. After getting underway, a full schedule of events begins with informative briefings.

Days 3-5: Exploration of Svalbard
High Arctic wilderness
This part of the voyage is a real expedition. Our captain and expedition leader will decide the itinerary based on the weather and sea ice conditions. You can expect to explore the northwestern part of Spitsbergen, with its impressive scenery, immense tidewater glaciers, and a wide variety of marine mammals.

Days 6-7: Across the Greenland Sea
Sailing towards East Greenland
Head southwest across the Greenland Sea toward East Greenland. In these far northern latitudes, it is possible to encounter sea ice anytime of the year. The ship will remain vigilant for sightings of marine mammals such as whales and seals.

Days 8-10: Exploration of East Greenland
The world's largest fjord system
This is expedition cruising at its most authentic, with an itinerary dependent on weather and sea ice conditions. You will explore the Franz Josef Fjord and Kong Oscar Fjord systems, which are part of Northeast Greenland National Park, the world’s largest national park. On shore, you will find fields of multicolored tundra, ancient Thule archaeological sites, and modern Inuit hunters’ cabins.

Day 11: Solar Eclipse
A rare celestial event
This day is dedicated to experiencing a total solar eclipse. The ship, the Sea Spirit, will anchor in the best location in the waters of Greenland to ensure you enjoy this moment to the fullest. The journey is further enriched by astrophysicist Paul Sutter, who will enhance your eclipse experience with expert insights.

Day 12: Across Denmark Strait
Return journey to Iceland
After an amazing time in East Greenland, you will cross the Denmark Strait toward Iceland, crossing the Arctic Circle on the way. Presentations and workshops by our expert staff will ensure that this day at sea is not idly spent.

Day 13: Disembarkation in Reykjavík, Iceland
Farewell in the capital of Iceland
After breakfast, you will say farewell in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland and ending point of our expedition. Transfers to the airport or to the city center will be provided.
