This is a micro cruise on the M/S Balto with a maximum of 12 passengers. The itinerary is an expedition cruise, so the route and destinations are flexible and subject to weather and ice conditions. The trip is a fly-cruise from Keflavik to Kulusuk, including a mandatory flight and hotel package.

Embark on a unique micro cruise to East Greenland, an undiscovered gem in the heart of the Greenlandic wilderness. This expedition focuses on the grand Sermilik fjord and its surrounding areas, which are still largely unexplored and offer magnificent hiking opportunities. You will be surrounded by a rugged landscape of towering mountains, magnificent icebergs of all shapes, and crystal-clear waters. The nutritious waters of the area provide a feeding ground for humpback and fin whales, and if you are lucky, you may encounter these giants of the sea.

From late August, this trip also offers the chance to see the magical Northern Lights dancing across the sky. You will gain a unique insight into the Inuit culture, their way of life, traditional practices, and cultural heritage, by visiting settlements like Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in East Greenland. This natural wonder of East Greenland is more than just a destination; it's a true experience of a lifetime, where you'll hear and see the thunderous calving of active glaciers and explore a surreal world of blue ice caves.

Day 1: Reykjavik, Iceland
Arrival in Iceland
You will arrive individually in Reykjavik and check into your hotel. You are free to explore the lovely city of Reykjavik at your leisure.

Day 2: Reykjavik & flight to Kulusuk, Greenland
Flight to Greenland and embarkation
Explore Reykjavik on your own. In the afternoon, you will transfer to Keflavik for your flight to Kulusuk, Greenland. In the evening, you will board your expedition ship and begin your great exploration.

Days 3 – 8: Expedition cruising
Exploring East Greenland's serene fjords
Spend six days on an expedition cruise, with the exact route decided by weather and ice. You may visit Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in East Greenland, and take a guided tour to learn about local myths and legends. You may also venture into the serenity of the Ammassalik fjord system, explore the abandoned military base at Ikateq fjord, and hear the thunderous calving of the Karale and Knud Rasmussen glaciers. The expedition will take you into the Sermilik fjord, where you will be among a myriad of icebergs and visit the tiny village of Tiilerilaaq.

Day 9: Kulusuk – Reykjavik
Ice cave excursion and city walk
After breakfast, you will disembark in Kulusuk for an excursion to an ice cave. You will travel there by boat and then continue on foot across the glacier. The tour concludes with a city walk and dinner before heading to the airport for the onward journey to Keflavik, where you will check into your hotel.

Day 10: Homeward bound
Departure from Iceland
Today you will bid your farewells and return home or onwards for new adventures.

Two hotel nights in Iceland, one night prior to the expedition and one night after
