This is a classic round-trip route during the aurora season, with an expert astronomer and exclusive excursions. There are up to 6 port calls each day, offering a deeper look at coastal life. The itinerary is a round-trip from Bergen to Kirkenes, so the ports visited at night on the northbound journey are seen during the day on the southbound journey for a full coastal experience.

Day 1: Bergen
The cultural gateway to the fjords
Your adventure begins in Bergen, a cultural gateway to the fjords. Make yourself at home onboard the ship and enjoy the relaxed ambiance, taking the opportunity to meet your fellow guests and astronomers.

Day 2: Ålesund & Molde
Art Nouveau architecture and the Molde Panorama
Arrive at the Art Nouveau town of Ålesund and explore its picturesque architecture. In the afternoon, you will reach the port of Molde and the amazing view of 222 mountain peaks across the fjord, called the "Molde Panorama."

Day 3: Trondheim
The royal city of Trondheim
Reach the medieval city of Trondheim, a vibrant mix of historic architecture and a bustling student population. Nidaros Cathedral, nicknamed 'Norway’s Notre Dame', and the charming wooden bridge of Gamle Bybro are highlights.

Day 4: Bodø
Crossing the Arctic Circle
In the early hours, the ship crosses the Arctic Circle. As you call into the northern city of Bodø, gaze up at the snow-capped Børvass peaks before experiencing the fabulous street art. The Lofoten archipelago greets you with the stunning sight of the 3,280 foot-high Lofoten Wall.

Day 5: Tromsø
Expand your Northern Lights knowledge
Welcome to Tromsø, the historic Arctic exploration capital. You will visit the Science Museum of Northern Norway and The Planetarium to learn more about the Northern Lights and constellations.

Day 6: Honningsvåg & Kirkenes
The North Cape and the Sámi people
Reach Honningsvåg and visit the globe monument at the North Cape. Look out for the striking rock formation called Finnkirka, once an ancient sacrificial site for the indigenous Sámi people. Continue north toward Kirkenes, sailing past Slettnes Lighthouse.

Day 7: Kirkenes & Hammerfest
To the top and back again
By breakfast, you will have reached the top of Norway and the town of Kirkenes. It is at this point that the voyage turns and returns south. The ports you visited at night are now seen during the day for a full Norwegian coastal experience.

Day 8: Hammerfest
The northernmost town in the world
Hammerfest is a key destination for astronomy lovers. You can trek up Mount Salen for views over the town or see the UNESCO-listed Meridian Column. Keep your eyes open for Northern Lights or migrating Orcas and Humpback Whales.

Day 9: Lofoten & Vesterålen
Legendary archipelagos
Pass through the legendary Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos. The coastal landscape changes from rolling hills to soaring mountains. You will visit Stokmarknes, where The Hurtigruten Coastal Express story began, and see the restored ship MS Finnmarken from 1952.

Day 10: Brønnøysund
A date with the Seven Sisters
Leave behind the Arctic Circle and head towards the ports of Bodø and Ørnes. Marvel at the Seven Sisters mountain range and don’t miss views of the Torghatten Mountain, with its distinctive hole right through the center.

Day 11: Trondheim & Kristiansund
The old cities and the sea
Early morning arrival in Trondheim will give you time to further explore the city and its sites. In the afternoon, you will dock at Kristiansund, a quaint harbor town, where you can sample the local delicacy of klippfisk, salted cod.

Day 12: Bergen
The final chapter of the fairytale
Your Astronomy Voyage draws to a close. Before saying goodbye, you will voyage across the mouth of Sognefjord, the longest and widest fjord in all of Norway. As you arrive in Bergen, it’s time to say goodbye to the crew and astronomers.
