Day 1: Juneau, Alaska - Embarkation
The start of the fjord expedition
The scent of saltwater greets you as you walk the gangway toward your expedition vessel. Meet your captain and crew as you settle into your floating home for the next week. In the lounge, enjoy a welcome cocktail or Champagne toast, an official send-off for the journey. As we leave the dock, head out on deck with your binoculars and keep watch for the first spouts on the horizon.

Day 2: Endicott Arm Fjord & Dawes Glacier Wilderness Area
Close encounters with active tidewater glaciers
Overnight, you have arrived in another world. Towering granite walls rise thousands of feet above milky blue waters, and massive icebergs drift past as we glide into Endicott Arm. Spot harbor seals hauling out on floating ice with pups in tow. As the ship slows, Dawes Glacier comes into view; bundle up and board a skiff for an intimate encounter with this active glacier, or hop in a kayak for a scenic paddle.

Day 3: Frederick Sound - Whale Watching
Navigating through humpback whale country
Misty spouts on the horizon signal that humpback whales are in the neighborhood. As we navigate whale-rich waters, the expedition team has the day’s adventures ready. Paddle at your own pace, watch for sea stars and shorebirds along the shoreline, or join a longer kayak journey or a guided hike into the heart of the Tongass National Forest. Skiff tours, snorkeling opportunities, and hikes offer another perspective.

Day 4: Thomas Bay/Wrangell Narrows
Glassy waters and Christmas Tree Lane
Glacially carved Thomas Bay is a mosaic of moraines, muskegs, and shimmering mudflats. Enjoy an open paddle over glassy waters where fjord walls reflect like mirrors, exploring at your own pace. Or join a skiff tour over these waters, a waterfall hike, or a bushwack. Depending on when the Captain sets sail, you may witness Wrangell Narrows, nicknamed Christmas Tree Lane for its vibrant red and green navigational lights.

Day 5: Blashke Islands
Intertidal exploration and searching for orcas
Today, you have space to roam. Remote and rugged, the Blashke Islands are a choose-your-own-adventure playground where dense forests beckon exploration. Hike, kayak, snorkel, skiff, or experience the unique intertidal life that exists between this wonderland of islands. Keep your eyes out for orcas, who frequent these protected waters.

Day 6: Behm Canal
Pure wilderness and black bear tracking
Winding through remote coves and forested bays, Behm Canal is Southeast Alaska in its purest form. This day offers a choice of low-elevation trail hikes alongside rushing streams, with opportunities to photograph dense forest and the wildlife that calls this place home, including black bears, eagles, and mink on land, and porpoises, seals, and otters in the water. Calm, protected waters make this excellent for kayaking.

Day 7: Misty Fjords National Monument
Dramatic vertical cliffs and Farewell Dinner
Misty Fjords will leave you speechless with its sheer 3,000-foot cliffs, glacially carved valleys, and rainforest-cloaked slopes. Explore Walker Cove or Rudyerd Bay by water during an open paddle, skiff ride, or long-drop paddle where you’ll enjoy the experience of feeling truly left in the wilds of Alaska. End the day with a festive Farewell Dinner and a slideshow of the week’s best moments assembled by your guide team.

Day 8: Ketchikan, Alaska - Disembarkation
Conclusion of the voyage in the Salmon Capital
All good journeys must end, and this one concludes in Ketchikan, the Salmon Capital of the World. After breakfast, say farewell to your crew and fellow adventurers as your Southeast Alaska expedition comes to a close.
