Snow blanketed peaks rise over the world’s largest wildlife colonies, in a land rich with biodiversity and bathed in golden-hour light. Here, photographers find magic and adventurers trace the footsteps of Shackleton through a realm still wild and untamed. It’s a canvas of contrasts and untouched nature, guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.

Step into a world where everything is extraordinary. Colossal mountain ranges, glaciers, clear oceans and frozen kissed landscapes. Watch nature’s greatest documentary unfold before your eyes: king penguins courting, elephant seals battling, and seabirds nesting amid rugged scenery. Bathed in the warm glow that blesses the spring Antarctic season, the atmosphere creates not only a truly magical atmosphere but enhances every shot.

This destination is so mind-blowing, we’ve crafted our longest-ever South Georgia expedition—a 15-day journey designed to leave you fully immersed in its wonders. Many of our guides list it as their number one destination, and with good reason. With flexibility, freedom, and just 42 guests, you’ll venture where larger ships can’t. No queues, no crowds, no rigid itinerary. Pure adventure entirely on your terms.

Expedition highlights
Early season magic. Witness dramatic contrasts as snow covers the island and wildlife bursts into action under the golden light—perfect for capturing unique, atmospheric images in an untouched wilderness.

In-depth exploration. This is your chance to enjoy the longest South Georgia expedition available to explore rugged landscapes, vast macaroni, gentoo and king penguin colonies, elephant seal harems, and untouched beaches.

Exploring the legacy of Shackleton. Sir Ernest Shackleton’s daring expeditions carved South Georgia into the annals of exploration. Walk the same windswept shores, visit his final resting place in Grytviken, and feel history come alive.

Photograph without the crowds. Explore with just 42 guests and enjoy access to restricted landing sites inaccessible to larger groups. Experience intimate wildlife encounters and crowd-free, pristine landscapes for your photography.

Flexible, photography-focused adventure. To maximise your photo opportunities, we plan excursions around the light, whether thats early or late in the day, making the most of the golden hours. Enjoy the freedom to capture rare moments without rigid schedules holding you back.

The island's iconic destinations. St Andrews Bay, Grytviken, Salisbury Plain, Gold Harbour, and Prion Island—each a world unto itself. From polar history and exploration legends to teeming wildlife spectacles and nesting albatross, these extraordinary places invite deep discovery. We aim to linger, savouring unhurried, unforgettable moments.

Day 1: Port Stanley, Falkland Islands
Depart Port Stanley, Falkland Islands in the afternoon and set sail across the Scotia Sea toward South Georgia. Keep your eyes peeled high and low for wandering albatrosses that tend to glide alongside the ship and dolphins playing in the wake.

Days 2-3: Crossing the Scotia Sea
Crossing the Scotia Sea is all part of the adventure. A time to spend time on deck with your camera and between these photographic moments, you’ll have the chance to take in expert-led talks and workshops on photography and South Georgia’s wildlife, history and geology.

By day 3, the first dramatic snow-covered peaks of South Georgia start to appear on the horizon.

Days 4-7: Dramatic coastlines and penguin colonies
We'll aim to explore South Georgia’s rugged coastline, making daily Zodiac landings to discover its most spectacular wildlife.

With 450,000 king penguins, it’s home to some of the planet’s greatest concentrations. Our flexible schedule should take us to key colonies at St Andrew’s Bay, Salisbury Plain, and Gold Harbour — at the best times to capture these awe-inspiring moments.

Days 8-12: Exploring sights others can’t
We aim to Zodiac cruise into South Georgia’s wildest corners and photograph nesting albatrosses on Prion Island from the water.

At Cooper Bay, you might find macaroni penguins nestled in tussock grass, and also visit Grytviken, a historic whaling station and the final resting place of legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton. All while the remote, towering glaciers of Drygalski Fjord surround you in breathtaking, untamed beauty.

Days 13-15: Reflecting, relaxing and connecting
As we sail back to the Falkland Islands, you'll enjoy insightful lectures from our expert guides reflecting on the wildlife, history, and landscapes you’ve experienced in South Georgia. As well as keeping an eye out for wildlife in the open waters, this is a good time to unwind in the sauna, share stories, and connect with fellow photographers.

Upon arrival in Port Stanley, you'll disembark after breakfast, concluding an unforgettable expedition.
