We travel in uncompromised comfort across the mighty Southern Ocean in a private jet or Airbus. During the 5-hour flight, the African night turns to day as we soar over thousands of icebergs and pass into 24 hours of continuous sunshine.
WOLF’S FANG RUNWAY
The runway is overlooked by one of the most magnificent and iconic mountains on the entire continent, so named ‘Wolf’s Fang’ by the early Norwegian explorers. Once on the ground, you will be surrounded by kilometer-high monoliths of rock that rise vertically from the ice.
Wolf’s Fang is made up of 6 guest sleeping tents, a large communal tent and a newly refurbished washroom facility. All guest areas are heated for your comfort.
The communal tent with adjoining kitchen houses a cosy lounge with rich leather finishes and a dining room where guests are served all meals. Our chef prepares freshly baked bread every morning before the day’s activities and each dinner is signed off with a night cap of your choice.

Itinerary

DAY BEFORE DEPARTURE
The expedition company will host a safety briefing in Cape Town. This is where we will check all your polar clothing and prepare you for your flight south.

DAY 1
We fly to Antarctica (5 hours) and cross thousands of icebergs as we pass over the Southern Ocean.
During the flight, we cross into the polar circle and into 24 hours continuous daylight. Landing on the specialist ice runway, you will be escorted to Wolf’s Fang.

DAY 2
Settle into Wolf’s Fang and discuss your options for the coming days with our experienced guides.
Then set out for a hike through the nunataks around the camp, getting to know the incredible topography of Queen Maud Land.

DAY 3
Setting out early in the morning, we will traverse by foot and Skidoo to the base of the Drygalski range.
The 20km route will journey over glaciers and across numerous nunataks. Arriving in the early afternoon we will have time to take the scenery in and check equipment for the next day.

DAY 4 | Summit Day.
The journey to the summit will follow a valley carved out by the glacier and then up on to rocky ridge that leads to the peak.
At the summit you’ll experience the essence of exploration, standing where few humans have ever stood before.
Back at basecamp, you will enjoy a hearty meal and toast your achievement with champagne!

DAY 5
The return trip will be by foot and skidoo with a stop half way to put your ice climbing skills to the test. The wind scoops around the nunataks make the perfect spot for testing and improving your ice-climbing skills.

DAY 6
A convoy of Arctic Trucks, and skidoos for the more adventurous, will traverse you across the glacier to the base of the Needle Peak, so named as the rock explodes vertically out of the ice. Here you will follow the challenging rope walk set up by our guides across the rock and ice. Late lunch will be served before the journey back to Wolf’s Fang.

DAY 7
Our schedule leaves you time to include more climbing and mountaineering or perhaps fat-biking and hiking around the extraordinary playground at Wolf’s Fang, before a celebratory dinner rounds off your trip to the Great White Continent.

DAY 8
The flight out of Antarctica will be the last of your unforgettable Antarctic memories before you delve back into the energy and heat of Africa. You will be transferred to your hotel where you will have a chance to relax in a hot bath and reflect on your Antarctic adventure!
