Antarctica
Experience the best of both worlds on this 10-day Antarctic expedition. Achieve a polar rite of passage by sailing south across the Drake Passage by ship and flying back from King George Island to Punta Arenas, exploring glaciated bays, research stations, and massive penguin colonies by Zodiac.
Duration: 10 days
Starts: Ushuaia, Argentina
Ends: Punta Arenas, Chile
Language: English speaking voyage
The itinerary is a guide only and is subject to change due to weather and ice conditions. The Captain and/or Expedition Leader will make necessary adjustments to ensure the best possible experience.
Participate in a 10-day air-cruise expedition designed to combine traditional open-sea navigation with a swift aerial return. The adventure begins in Ushuaia with an included airport transfer and free time to explore the port city. The following day, after an afternoon embarkation, the ship sets sail along the historic Beagle Channel toward the legendary Drake Passage. During the southbound transit, the Expedition Team offers a full lecture program on wildlife, history, and glaciology to prepare guests before crossing the Antarctic Convergence at 60° south.
Once in the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, enjoy four intensive days of exploration. Through daily Zodiac excursions, you will disembark on shores inhabited by thousands of Adélie, chinstrap, and gentoo penguins, visit scientific research stations, and hike along snowy trails. From the ship and Zodiacs, actively scout for Weddell, crabeater, and leopard seals, as well as humpback, minke, or killer whales among calving glaciers. The journey concludes with a disembarkation on King George Island to catch a charter flight back to Punta Arenas, Chile, saving navigation time and enjoying a final evening in Patagonia.

NOTE: Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy—and excitement—of expedition travel. When traveling in extremely remote regions, your expedition staff must allow the sea, the ice and the weather to guide route and itinerary details. This itinerary is a tentative outline of what you’ll experience on this voyage; please be aware that no specific itinerary can be guaranteed.
