Embark on a true High Arctic expedition along the glaciated coastlines and drifting ice of the Svalbard archipelago. Starting in Oslo with a dedicated charter flight to Longyearbyen, the voyage sets sail into deep northwestern fjords framed by tidewater glaciers. Across Northwest Spitsbergen National Park and open western shores, guests explore active ice fronts, seventeenth-century whaling remains at Smeerenburg, and the renowned international polar research settlement of Ny-Ålesund.

The journey presses farther north and northeast into remote wilderness waters, navigating through Hinlopen Strait and along the ever-shifting edge of the pack ice. Through flexible Zodiac cruising and shore landings, travelers encounter towering seabird cliffs at Alkefjellet, pristine tundra, and coastal habitats supporting walruses, seals, Arctic foxes, Svalbard reindeer, and polar bears hunting upon the sea ice.

Highlights:
Slow navigation along the shifting pack ice edge with opportunities to spot seals and polar bears.
Zodiac cruising before active tidewater glacier fronts in Kongsfjorden, Krossfjorden, and Northwest Spitsbergen.
Encountering tens of thousands of nesting seabirds along the vertical basalt cliffs of Alkefjellet.
Visiting the historic seventeenth-century whaling station at Smeerenburg and the scientific community of Ny-Ålesund.
Observing High Arctic wildlife including walruses, seals, Arctic foxes, and Svalbard reindeer.
