Embark on an 11-day expedition voyage tracing the historical sea roads that have connected Scotland, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland for generations. Setting sail from the ancient port of Aberdeen, the journey heads north to discover the 5,000-year-old Neolithic monuments of Orkney and the rich Norse heritage of the Shetland Islands. Cruising through remote British islets, travelers explore dramatic sea caves and towering cliffs crowded with breeding seabird colonies before crossing the open waters of the North Atlantic.
Arriving at the Faroe Islands, guests encounter vivid green slopes, deep fjords, and the vibrant capital of Tórshavn with its turf-roofed timber buildings. Guided Zodiac excursions and hikes reveal layered basalt sea stacks and thousands of nesting puffins, fulmars, and guillemots. The expedition concludes in Iceland with a visit to the volcanic island of Heimaey to discover the history of the 1973 Eldfell eruption before arriving at the lively waterfront of Reykjavík.
