The photography workshops are composed of onboard lectures and practical activities led by dedicated expedition guide. Each session is meant to give you additional skills you can put into immediate practice out in nature.

You'll become more familiar with your own camera equipment while also learning best practices for taking pictures of moving wildlife and wide-open terrain in typical polar conditions, such as dim lighting and falling snow.

But all of this needs a context in order to understand where you are and what you are experiencing.

This photo adventure is a photographer’s dream, meticulously designed to capture iconic shots of wild polar bears and stunning tundra landscapes in Churchill, Manitoba. By staying at the unique Tundra Buggy Lodge located at Polar Bear Point, guests benefit from early starts and late finishes in prime locations, with 24/7 photo opportunities that can even include the aurora borealis from the rooftop observation deck. A dedicated Photo Specialist accompanies the group to help refine technical skills and capture high-level wildlife imagery.

The itinerary features four full days in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, where Frontiers North Adventures holds expansive access permits. Day 1: Arrival in Winnipeg
Reception and Specialist Welcome
Arrive in Winnipeg and check into your hotel located conveniently at the airport. You will enjoy a welcome reception hosted by a Frontiers North Photo Specialist. Overnight at a Winnipeg hotel.

Day 2: Churchill Arrival and Lodge Transfer
Photography Tour and Workshop Start
Take an early morning flight to Churchill to begin your subarctic adventure. You will participate in a photography tour of the Churchill area and visit the Polar Bears International House. After a cultural presentation from a local resident, transfer by Tundra Buggy® to the lodge. An introductory photo workshop will be held in the evening. Overnight at Tundra Buggy Lodge.

Day 3: Tundra Photography
Full Day Wildlife Observation
Spend a full day in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area using the Tundra Buggy® as a mobile gallery to photograph polar bears and other subarctic wildlife. Return to the Tundra Buggy Lodge in the evening for dinner and potential aurora viewing.

Day 4: Capturing the Arctic
Immersive Field Work
Enjoy a second full day of photography on the tundra. The lodge's location allows for maximum time in the field during prime light conditions. Return to the lodge for evening presentations.

Day 5: Deep Tundra Exploration
Honing Wildlife Photography Skills
Your third full day of photography focused on wild polar bears in their natural habitat. Your Photo Specialist will be on hand to help refine your skills and capture iconic shots. Return to the Tundra Buggy Lodge.

Day 6: Final Excursion and Return to Winnipeg
Last Chance Shots and Evening Flight
Spend a final full day on a Tundra Buggy® excursion photographing the unique wildlife and landscapes. In the evening, take the flight back to Winnipeg and check into your hotel.
