The MV Villa is the perfect platform for a photography expedition, with multiple outdoor deck spaces and nooks. With a maximum group size of 12 guests, the expert onboard crew with decades of experience in the Arctic, can mobilise quickly and easily take advantage of any wildlife-or-aurora-viewing opportunities that present themselves ashore or in the Zodiacs. A photography expedition on an expedition vessel provides accessibility to the areas from sea that you cannot reach on land, with an expert team to enhance every moment of your Northern Norway expedition.

Back inside MV Villa, enjoy the delectable, memorable expedition dishes provided by Chef that only enriches your expedition experience. The interior was refurbished in 2020 to deliver high comfort and warmth onboard with a complete upgrade of all guest accommodations.
Expedition mode begins as soon as we depart Tromsø – your Expedition Leader and Captain will determine the route based on the aurora forecast, wildlife, and weather conditions.

From novice enthusiasts to the seasoned professional –this photography expedition is for all ability levels, whether you’d like to learn the basics, hone your skills, photograph alongside experts, or reach a new destination to shoot.
With the lack of sunlight and light pollution, the conditions sailing this north in winter allows for the viewing of the most spectacular displays across the sky, Northern Norway sits directly below the auroral band across the planet that receives almost consistent auroral activity.

Norway has attracted whales for centuries, and in recent years Northern Norway has seen an increase of whale pods during the winter months that favour the Atlantic herring that spawn in schools of up to three billion fish, attracting orca, humpback whales and many others with their impressive feeding techniques, whilst wildlife viewings are never guaranteed, we will very confidently say that you will not leave disappointed.

Your adventure has just begun!

DAY 2-6 | EXPLORE THE FJORDS & ISLANDS
We will be in full expedition mode, exploring the archipelago and taking advantage of all that Northern Norway has to offer. Weather conditions and wildlife sightings will determine the route and your Expedition Leader will keep you updated on the plan throughout your days onboard, expect photo opportunities at every turn, Zodiac cruises through the fjords, chasing the spawing herring as we search for the orcas and humpback whales in the area.

TROMSØ & SENJA, LOFOTEN ISLANDS: MOSKENESØYA, FLAKSTADØYA & VESTVÅGØY, TROLLFJORDEN & RAFTSUNDET

Reputedly the most picturesque place on the longest coastline in Europe, Northern Norway and the Lofoten Islands are a very unique and dramatic part of the world. Ever-the-picture of a postcard, enjoy the view as MV Villa approaches one of the many areas to sail, maybe you'll explore by Zodiac and take in the beauty, or head ashore to photograph the reflective aurora with your Expedition Team.

Reine by Reinefjord is home to just over 300 and keeps the 18th century traditional aesthetic alive with the quintessential fisherman’s cabins, or robru, dotted at the bottom of the dramatic jagged mountain peaks and is one of the many villages we can visit on your expedition amongst the dramatic scenic sailing, with frequent encounters with the migrating whales who share the waters with us.

DAY 7 | TROMSØ
Enjoy a final breakfast together as we arrive at Tromsø, our final destination where we bid you farewell for disembarkation.
