Included

Embark on a remarkable 10-day Arctic voyage beginning in Longyearbyen, where glaciers meet icy fjords and polar bears roam vast pack ice. This expedition is a powerful blend of wilderness, wildlife, and culture spanning three Arctic seas. You will explore Svalbard’s dramatic landscapes and remote islands before sailing south to the seldom-visited Jan Mayen, a volcanic outpost dominated by the striking Beerenberg volcano.

The journey continues along Greenland’s rugged east coast, including a call at Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most isolated settlements, and the awe-inspiring Scoresbysund fjord system, the largest in the world. After crossing the Arctic Circle, you will explore Iceland’s wild Westfjords and the thunderous Dynjandi waterfall, finishing in Reykjavík—a vibrant city framed by mountains and the sea. Daily Zodiac cruises and shore landings, determined by the Captain’s Choice, ensure you experience the full scale and serenity of these high latitudes.

Day 1: Longyearbyen (Svalbard), Norway
Embarkation and early exploration
Longyearbyen is surrounded by steep mountains and several glaciers. Be sure to visit the Svalbard museum as a break between activities like summer dogsledding or cruising to the abandoned Russian city of Pyramiden. Board the ship and set sail in the evening.

Days 2-3: Exploring Svalbard - Captain's Choise
Pioneering history and wildlife abundance
Wildlife abounds throughout the archipelago of Svalbard. Our expedition leaders will determine possible landings each day for all-out explorations. Keep your eyes on the water for whale fins, and look for polar bears, puffins, reindeer, Arctic terns and foxes.

Day 4: Greenland Sea Scenic Navigation
Prime whale-watching waters
Crossing the Greenland Sea immerses you in wide horizons and prime whale-watching waters. July often brings humpback and minke whales—occasionally even blues—feeding in the nutrient-rich depths. This serene passage offers time to reflect on the Arctic’s scale.

Day 5: Jan Mayen Island - Captain's Choise
Volcanic outpost and Beerenberg
Few travelers ever set foot on Jan Mayen, a volcanic outpost adrift in the Arctic Ocean. Dominated by Beerenberg, the world’s northernmost active volcano, the island’s glaciers cascade to the sea, carving stark slopes and bird-clad cliffs. Landings here are a true expedition prize.

Day 6: Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland / Scoresby Sound, Greenland - Captain's Choise
The world’s largest fjord system and Inuit culture
The ship calls at Ittoqqortoormiit, a remote settlement located at Scoresby Sound. Zodiac excursions may bring you close to calving glaciers or wildlife such as musk oxen. Very few visitors make the trek here.

Day 7: Scoresby Sound, Greenland - Captain's Choise
Icebergs the size of cathedrals and profound stillness
Explore the world’s largest fjord system. Sheer mountains rise above glassy channels, where icebergs the size of cathedrals drift in ever-changing shades of blue. Remote Inuit settlements dot the coastline.

Day 8: Crossing the Arctic Circle - Captain's Choise
A memorable travel milestone
Few travel milestones are as memorable as crossing the fabled Arctic Circle. As your ship sails north, you join the ranks of explorers who have ventured into these high latitudes. Many mariners celebrate this passage with the lighthearted tradition of becoming a “Blue Nose.”

Day 9: Dynjandi Waterfall (Isafjordur), Iceland
The crowning jewel of the Westfjords
Imagine standing before the majestic Dynjandi waterfall in Iceland, where the world’s edges seem to touch the sky. Navigate the serene waters at the base of Dynjandi, getting an unparalleled view from a genuinely unique angle via a possible Zodiac safari.

Day 10: Reykjavík, Iceland
Disembarkation and departure
Arrive in the cosmopolitan and charming capital of Iceland. Kaleidoscopic views await you at the Harpa Concert Hall. Disembarkation begins shortly after arrival.
