Embark on a thrilling 12-day expedition cruise that traces the historic Norse sea route, offering a deep dive into the diversity of Earth’s largest island, Greenland. Here, you will step onto the site of Brattahlíð at Qassiarsuk, the first European settlement in the Americas, and trek to Igaliku, once the ecclesiastical seat of Norse power. The voyage continues north to Nuuk, Greenland’s vibrant capital—a unique fusion of ancient tradition and contemporary life. The expedition culminates with a dramatic Zodiac cruise through the soaring cliffs and active glaciers of the unforgettable Eternity Fjord, promising a grand finale to a journey steeped in Norse history, Inuit culture, and breathtaking Arctic wilderness.

Day 1: All Aboard in Reykjavik!
Embarkation in Iceland’s Capital
The expedition begins in Reykjavik, a vibrant city known for its Nordic cuisine, unique museums, and lively atmosphere, overlooked by the Hallgrímskirkja Church. After a safety briefing, we set sail towards the East Coast of Greenland, crossing the Denmark Strait.

Day 2: At Sea, Crossing the Denmark Strait
Marine Life Spotting and Expedition Briefings
As we cross the narrow Denmark Strait, teeming with rich marine life, guests are encouraged to join the Expedition Team on the outer decks to watch for wildlife. The team will provide informative talks on the region's ecology, geology, and wildlife, as well as essential briefings covering Zodiac operations and polar bear safety procedures in the Greenlandic wilderness.

Day 3: Tasiilaq, East Greenland Discovering Tunumiit Culture and Art We arrive at Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in East Greenland, nestled on rugged Ammassalik Island. This isolated community preserves the unique culture of the Tunumiit people, once home to the last shamans and the origin of the tupilak art form. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet sled dogs (with permission), witness drum dancing, hike across tundra meadows, and visit the famous Stunk Artist’s Workshop.

Day 4: Ikateq and Kuummiit Haunting History and Local Connection In the morning, we approach Ikateq, also known as Bluie Two East, a haunting remnant of an American military airbase from the Second World War, abandoned in 1947 and left untouched. In the afternoon, the vessel repositions to Kuummiit, a small, welcoming village deep in the calm waters of Ammassalik Fjord. Here, guests will have a chance to connect with friendly locals and experience traditional East Greenlandic culture.

Day 5: Sermilikfjord
Zodiac Cruising Among Colossal Icebergs
Our destination today is the breathtaking Sermilikfjord, a vast, ice-choked fjord draining the immense Helheim Glacier. Armadas of gigantic icebergs, sculptures tens of thousands of years in the making, drift out into the North Atlantic. Join your Expedition Team on an exhilarating Zodiac cruise to marvel at this spectacular natural sight.

Day 6: Skjoldungen/Saqqisikuik
Remote Fjord Exploration and Glacial Views
We explore Skjoldungen (Saqqisikuik), a stunning, now-uninhabited fjord on the southeast coast, framed by breathtaking peaks. Highlights include Thryms Glacier and Dronning Marie Dal valley. Depending on conditions, we may land to explore the rugged terrain or cruise closer to the glacier face.

Day 7: Prins Christian Sund and Appilaattoq
Spectacular Strait Transit and Traditional Village
The morning features a transit through the spectacular Prins Christian Sund, a 60 km iceberg-filled strait that links East and West Greenland, surrounded by dramatic mountains and glaciers. By afternoon, we reach Aappilattoq, a small, remote village beneath towering granite cliffs, known for its traditional lifestyle, scenic hiking, and acclaimed local choir.

Day 8: Qassiarsuk and Itilleq Kujalleq
Norse History and Trekking to the Bishop’s Seat
We cruise through Tunulliarfik Fjord to Qassiarsuk, a village famous for sheep farming and its rich Norse past. It sits on the site of Erik the Red’s 10th-century farm, Brattahlíð, featuring the reconstruction of the first church in the Americas. In the afternoon, we hike from nearby Itilleq through lush green fields to Igaliku to explore the ruins of Garðar, once the seat of the Norse Greenlandic bishops.

Day 9: At Sea, En Route to Nuuk
Sailing North Along the Western Coast
We sail north along the rugged western coast, facing the Davis Strait. This side of Greenland benefits from warm Atlantic currents, enriching the waters and attracting abundant marine life, including whales and seals. Keep a keen eye out for seabirds and marine mammals during this day at sea.

Day 10: Nuuk, Capital of Greenland
Ancient Roots Meet Contemporary Culture
We arrive at Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, home to 20,000 residents and a singular blend of history and modernity, affectionately dubbed “Nuuk York.” Inhabited since 2200 B.C., Nuuk is the cultural and political hub, offering sights like the Parliament, the National Museum (home of the Qilakitsoq mummies), the Katuaq cultural center, local art shops, and cozy cafés.

Day 11: Kangaamiut and Evighedsfjorden
Traditional Village Life and Eternity Fjord Finale
On our final full day, we visit Kangaamiut, a village where traditional hunting and fishing define daily life. Guests can enjoy a warm cultural welcome, including local crafts, food, and performance, and hike for panoramic views. In the afternoon, we enter Evighedsfjorden— “The Eternity Fjord”—by Zodiac, cruising past majestic glaciers and dramatic bird cliffs for a thrilling and unforgettable finale.

Day 12: Kangerlussuaq Disembarkation
Departure by Charter Flight
As the voyage concludes, we sail up the 160 km Kangerlussuaq Fjord and disembark via Zodiac. Kangerlussuaq, known for its Cold War-era history and role as a transport hub, is surrounded by striking natural beauty. From here, we will board the chartered flight to Copenhagen, marking the end of your Greenlandic journey.
