Shore excursions are the backbone of almost all itineraries, with most ships making landfall at least once every day once they reach their destination. The weather plays a huge role in your daily itinerary, although given the sheer array of fantastic landing sites all over there are plenty of options your Captain and Expedition Leader can choose from. On-shore excursions allow you to visit scientific research stations, communities, prominent wildlife colonies and take hikes to elevated viewing points for fantastic photography.

On board the Zodiac you will discover a world of possibilities; accessing the most exclusive landing sites, cruising the coast in search of wildlife or simply enjoying a tour in the calm of the polar regions in search of marine wildlife or bird colonies.
The blue ice an its intimate presence is experienced at its best on zodiac tours.
It is not uncommon to meet curious seals, or humpback whales feeding.

Featuring five extra days compared to the classic itinerary, this voyage offers unparalleled flexibility to navigate deeper into the world's most extensive fjord system. Alongside visits to the isolated Inuit village of Ittoqqortoormiit and the iconic ice palaces of Hekla Havn and Rødefjord, this extended trip ventures into Gåsefjord with its sheer basalt cliffs and Nordvestfjord to witness some of the largest icebergs on Earth.
Throughout the journey, guests will partake in guided tundra hikes to spot Arctic wildlife, including muskoxen, Arctic hares, and foxes, while experiencing world-class sailing beneath Øfjord's 2,000-meter sheer granite walls. Day 1: Reykjavik - Constable Point - Ittoqqortoormiit
Flight to the Arctic and cultural visit
Fly from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Constable Point in Greenland. Embark the schooner, attend safety briefings, and sail toward Ittoqqortoormiit. Spend the evening meeting locals in this remote settlement where 300 residents make their living by subsistence hunting.
Day 2: Sailing in Scoresbysund - Hekla Havn
Iceberg palaces and historic Inuit sites
Sail west through Scoresby Sound among giant drifting iceberg palaces calved from the Inland Ice. Anchor at Hekla Havn on Denmark Ø, the site of an ancient Inuit settlement and 19th-century scientific camp, followed by an evening walk ashore.
Day 3: Sailing - Føhnfjord / Gåsefjord
Basalt peaks and glacier cliffs
Navigate west through narrow Føhnfjord and into Gåsefjord, surrounded by Gåseland’s impressive basalt cliffs and Milne Land’s 2,000-meter granite walls. Explore the calving glacier fronts in the area.
Day 4: Rødefjord - Red Island
Cruising the Red Sandstone Fjord
Explore the red sandstone shores of Red Island before sailing north through Rødefjord, often filled with massive icebergs and drifting ice crusts.
Day 5-6: Nordvestfjord and Harefjord
Deep exploration and giant icebergs
Spend two days exploring deeper into Scoresby Sound. Venture into Nordvestfjord to witness some of the largest icebergs on the planet. Anchor in Harefjord for tundra hikes and wildlife watching for grazing muskoxen.
Day 7-8: Øfjord and Jyttes Havn
Spectacular fjord walls and Bear Islands hiking
Sail through the majestic Øfjord, framed by towering granite walls rising 2,000 meters straight from the sea. Anchor in Jyttes Havn in the Bear Islands for a full day of hiking, an optional sea swim at 71°N, and an evening beach bonfire.
Day 9-10: Rypefjord and secret Scoresby Sound locations

Enjoy extra expedition days with the flexibility of our extended itinerary to explore Rypefjord or revisit favorite hidden locations. Take Zodiac cruises among sea ice and go ashore for wildlife spotting.
Day 11-12: Sailing crossing to Iceland

Depart Scoresby Sound to begin the two-day open-ocean sailing journey across the North Atlantic back to Iceland. Enjoy onboard life, learn sailing skills from the crew, and spot seabirds along the way.
Day 13: Arrival in Húsavík, Iceland
Final disembarkation
Arrive in the morning at the harbor of Húsavík, Iceland. Enjoy a final breakfast onboard, farewell the crew and fellow travelers, and disembark the schooner.
