Not only we travel from one point to another and find our shelter on board the ship we chose. We also enjoy from incredible scenery, landscapes and interactions that only our noble vessel can provide.
Everyday the Bridge Team navigates the ship to position ourselves on the best posible spots, looking for unique opportunities.
Many times, this includes sainig through narrow passages, on the vicinity of glaciers or entering bays and fjords only approachable from the ship.

Shore excursions are the backbone of almost all itineraries, with most ships making landfall at least once every day once they reach their destination. The weather plays a huge role in your daily itinerary, although given the sheer array of fantastic landing sites all over there are plenty of options your Captain and Expedition Leader can choose from. On-shore excursions allow you to visit scientific research stations, communities, prominent wildlife colonies and take hikes to elevated viewing points for fantastic photography.

The photography workshops are composed of onboard lectures and practical activities led by dedicated expedition guide. Each session is meant to give you additional skills you can put into immediate practice out in nature.
You'll become more familiar with your own camera equipment while also learning best practices for taking pictures of moving wildlife and wide-open terrain in typical polar conditions, such as dim lighting and falling snow.
Zodiac cruising More info about this activity
On board the Zodiac you will discover a world of possibilities; accessing the most exclusive landing sites, cruising the coast in search of wildlife or simply enjoying a tour in the calm of the polar regions in search of marine wildlife or bird colonies.
The blue ice an its intimate presence is experienced at its best on zodiac tours.

As you might imagine, gathering critical on-site data on a regular basis would be a virtually impossible task for these groups. So we do it for them, in partnership with different research facilities.
If you’d like to get a first-hand look at how climate change is impacting our birds, sea life, glaciers, oceans, and weather patterns, and help scientists better understand our evolving planet, you’re welcome to join our Citizen Science program. Day 1: All Aboard in Reykjavik!
Setting sail from the Icelandic capital
Reykjavik is a vibrant city known for Nordic cuisine and unique museums. After safety briefings, we set sail toward the wild coasts of East Greenland, leaving the silhouette of Hallgrímskirkja Church behind.
Day 2: At Sea, Crossing the Denmark Strait
Navigation and marine life
This narrow passage between Iceland and Greenland teems with marine life. Onboard experts guide guests in wildlife spotting while sharing insights on ecology and geology to prepare us for Greenland.
Day 3: Kuummiut and Ikateq, East Greenland
Inuit tradition and wartime history
We begin in Kuummiut, a prosperous fishing village with no road access where sled dogs and motorboats set the pace. In the afternoon, we visit Ikateq, the remains of a WWII U.S. airbase set amid breathtaking natural landscapes.
Day 4: Tasiilaq, East Greenland
Heart of Tunumiit culture
We visit the largest settlement in the region, isolated from Europe until 1894. You can experience drum dancing, meet sled dogs, and visit local artist workshops to discover the origin of the tupilak, a magical creature turned into art.
Day 5: At Sea, En Route to Ittoqqortoormiit
Biological productivity and relaxation
We sail along a rugged coastline where Arctic currents create immense biological wealth. Guests can enjoy lectures, spa treatments, or simply watch seabirds and wildlife from the ship’s hot tubs.
Day 6: Ittoqqortoormiit
At the edge of civilization
Arrival at one of the most remote communities on Earth. Its residents maintain a subsistence hunting lifestyle. The town represents the end of human civilization and the start of thousands of miles of pristine Arctic wilderness.
Days 7-9: Northeast Greenland National Park
The world's largest nature reserve
We enter an uninhabited territory of nearly a million square kilometers. The flexible itinerary includes highlights like Ella Island's cliffs, the historic Maria Island, and the geological views of Teufelsschloss mountain in Blomsterbugten.
Day 10: Blosseville Coast
Volcanic landscapes
We sail south along a coastline shaped by volcanic activity 50 million years ago. If conditions allow, we will make landings in this uninhabited region of breathtaking beauty, historically navigated by the Inuit.
Day 11: At Sea, En Route to Reykjavik, Iceland
Reflection and farewell
During the return to Iceland, attend final lectures and the voyage slideshow. We will celebrate the journey with new friends at the Captain’s Farewell Cocktail Party as we approach Reykjavik.
Day 12: Reykjavik, Iceland: Disembarkation
Return to the city
After days of isolation in the wilderness, the Icelandic capital will appear on the horizon. After a final breakfast, we say goodbye to the crew and disembark with lasting memories of the voyage of a lifetime.

The standard Stateroom on Ocean Albatros is close to the Mudroom and has quick access to the Zodiac platforms for disembarkation during landings. This is very convenient if you have more limited mobility and would like a short distance to the Zodiacs. The State Rooms are perfect for those who wish a comfortable base during their stay onboard Ocean Albatros. The standard State Rooms all have a double bed or 2 single beds and a bathroom.
