Arctic
Arctic
A 5-night expedition designed for those seeking the ultimate Arctic essence in a compact and efficient format. Sail to the edge of the pack ice, visit historical settlements, and encounter Svalbard's most iconic wildlife: polar bears, walruses, and whales, without the need for extended vacation leave.
Duration: 6 days / 5 nights
Starts: Longyearbyen, Svalbard
Ends: Longyearbyen, Svalbard
Language: English speaking voyage
The itinerary is for guidance only. Sailing and landing plans depend entirely on ice, weather, and wildlife, with the Expedition Leader making the final call.
This compact Spitsbergen adventure has been designed to optimize every moment in the High Arctic. From historic Longyearbyen, the vessel ventures into landscapes of breathtaking purity, visiting scientific research centers like Ny-Ålesund, where the era of air pioneers still lingers. The expedition actively seeks the glacier fronts of Krossfjord and Raudfjorden, where dramatic geology meets vibrant seabird colonies and the constant possibility of spotting the king of the Arctic: the polar bear.
The crowning highlight is sailing north to reach the pack ice. In this ethereal landscape of floating ice, photographic opportunities are unmatched as we search for seals, ivory gulls, and majestic bowhead whales. With landings at 17th-century whaling historical sites and stops at walrus haul-outs in Poolepynten, this voyage offers a complete "tasting menu" of what Svalbard has to offer, ideal for adventurers with limited time but a great spirit for discovery.
Highlights:
Sailing to the edge of the pack ice in search of polar bears and whales.

NOTE: Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy—and excitement—of expedition travel. When traveling in extremely remote regions, your expedition staff must allow the sea, the ice and the weather to guide route and itinerary details. This itinerary is a tentative outline of what you’ll experience on this voyage; please be aware that no specific itinerary can be guaranteed.
