Optional

This Polar Circle and Antarctic Peninsula cruise passes through waters traveled by Humpback, Minke, and Fin whales. The expedition offers the chance to explore the last true wilderness of our planet through shore-based walking, Zodiac cruising, and optional diving in iceberg-heavy waters. During the late Antarctic summer, activity is prolific: penguin chicks begin to fledge while orcas and leopard seals patrol the shores in search of prey.

The journey reaches geographical milestones such as Detaille Island, accessible only on voyages that cross south of the Polar Circle, where an abandoned British research station is visited. From the natural harbor of volcanic Deception Island to the colonies of thousands of Gentoo penguins on Cuverville Island, each destination reveals the magnitude of the White Continent. Guided by expert naturalists, passengers will immerse themselves in the history of polar exploration and the unique biodiversity of the Melchior Islands and the Lemaire Channel.

Highlights:
Crossing the Antarctic Polar Circle and visiting remote Detaille Island.
Prolific sightings of Humpback, Minke, and Killer whales.
Exploration of Deception Island, an active volcanic crater.
Visit to massive Adélie and Gentoo penguin colonies.
Zodiac cruising among monumental glaciers and icebergs.
