On-shore excursions allow you to visit scientific research stations, communities, prominent wildlife colonies and take hikes to elevated viewing points for fantastic photography.

Day 1: Arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina

Welcome to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Nestled between the Andes Mountains and the Beagle Channel, transfer independently to your designated hotel and check in. Spend the day resting, exploring the waterfront, or enjoying the crisp southern air in preparation for the journey ahead. All meals today are at your own expense.
Day 2: Ushuaia, Argentina (Embarkation)
Setting sail through the Beagle Channel
After breakfast, a group transfer takes us from the hotel to the pier for embarkation. As the ship casts off and sails through the Beagle Channel, snowcapped peaks fade into the distance. Your Expedition Team will conduct mandatory briefings and introduce the upcoming plans as we head south toward the Drake Passage.
Day 3-4: Crossing the Drake Passage (At Sea)
Polar presentations and the return of sunsets
Two days crossing the waters separating South America from Antarctica. Attend presentations on Antarctic history, wildlife, and geology while watching for wandering albatrosses from the deck. As we push south, temperatures drop, sea ice appears, and sunsets return to the horizon, bringing soft light to the icy landscape.
Day 5-10: Explore South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula
Peak whale season and the Antarctic Circle milestone
Flexible exploration among mountains rising from the sea and glaciers descending into quiet bays. Daily Zodiac cruising and shore landings offer close encounters with Adélie, chinstrap, and gentoo penguins, seals, and feeding humpback and minke whales. Possible sites include Elephant Island, Paradise Harbour, Cierva Cove, Petermann Island, Brown Station, Damoy Point, Danco Island, Mikkelsen Harbor, Neko Harbour, Cuverville Island, Brown Bluff, Port Lockroy, Lemaire Channel, Great Wall Station, and Detaille Island south of the Antarctic Circle, which we will actively attempt to cross.
Day 11-12: At Sea
Sailing toward the wildlife kingdom of South Georgia
Depart the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands, sailing north toward South Georgia. Onboard presentations will focus on Antarctic geography, history, and conservation, preparing us for our arrival in the wildlife-rich waters of South Georgia.
Day 13-15: Explore South Georgia
Massive king penguin colonies and Shackleton's legacy
Days dedicated to exploring South Georgia's dramatic beaches and grassy plains. Daily landings and cruising will witness spectacular concentrations of wildlife at Right Whale Bay, Salisbury Plain, and St Andrews Bay (home to over a hundred thousand breeding pairs of king penguins and elephant seals), Fortuna Bay, Gold Harbour, and historic Grytviken, where we can visit the old whaling station and pay respects at Ernest Shackleton's grave.
Day 16-17: At Sea
Ocean crossing and photography review
These two days at sea offer time to reflect on your Antarctic experiences, attend presentations, review photographs, and share stories with fellow travelers as seabirds increase and temperatures slowly rise during our approach to the Falkland / Malvinas Islands.
Day 18-19: Explore the Falklands (Islas Malvinas)
Sub-Antarctic landscapes and island history
Explore this remote South Atlantic archipelago, balancing nature landings with cultural history. Possible sites include Stanley, the main settlement with a distinctly British character where Magellanic penguins are found nearby, and rugged West Point Island, known for steep sea cliffs hosting large colonies of black-browed albatross and southern rockhopper penguins.
Day 20: At Sea
Final recap sessions in the South Atlantic
The expedition team will offer recap sessions, bringing together the continuous journey from the Antarctic continent and South Georgia to the Falkland / Malvinas Islands. Time on deck and in the lounge allows space to reflect on the landscapes, wildlife, and experiences encountered along the way.
