This unique expedition takes place at the very end of the Antarctic season, offering an exceptional perspective shaped by shifting polar light and remarkable wildlife concentrations. As Antarctica emerges from the continuous polar day, golden sunsets return to illuminate drifting icebergs and massive valley glaciers. This period also marks the absolute peak whale season around the Antarctic Peninsula, with frequent and close sightings of humpback and minke whales feeding in the bays. The voyage continuously links three iconic regions of the Southern Ocean: the Antarctic Peninsula, the wildlife kingdom of South Georgia, and the windswept Falkland / Malvinas Islands.
Throughout the journey, the itinerary masterfully balances active Zodiac excursions with educational lectures on board. Guests will have the rare opportunity to attempt a crossing of the Antarctic Circle, a significant geographic milestone achieved by very few travelers, and potentially visit international research sites like China's Great Wall Station. Following in the legendary footsteps of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, this expedition allows travelers to step ashore on beaches packed with elephant seals, fur seals, and massive penguin colonies, all framed by steep mountain walls and pristine polar scenery perfect for deep photography.
