Optional

This "Sail/Fly" expedition offers the unique opportunity to venture below the Antarctic Circle, entering a world that feels more isolated and colder than regions further north. Navigating through pack ice and narrow channels, travelers will witness landscapes of ice-clad mountains and spectacular icebergs while observing wildlife in its purest state. The journey allows for exploration of the western side of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, taking advantage of up to 24 hours of daylight to maximize nature encounters.

Throughout the voyage, Zodiac cruises and shore landings are conducted to visit historic sites, scientific stations, and lively penguin colonies where chicks are fed. The waters at this time are rich in krill, ensuring sightings of humpback and minke whales, as well as seals hauled out on ice floes. Crossing the latitude 66°33’ South is the crowning milestone of the adventure, celebrated with a toast on deck, before flying over the Drake Passage from King George Island to Punta Arenas for a comfortable and scenic finale.

Highlights:
Celebrate the crossing of the Antarctic Circle at latitude 66°33' South (approximately).
Zodiac cruising among spectacularly shaped icebergs and deep blue glaciers.
Keep a watch for whales such as humpback and minke, and seals in their natural habitat.
Visit fascinating historic sites including explorers’ huts and scientific stations.
Scenic flight over the Drake Passage from Antarctica to Punta Arenas.
